The Land of Fairytales, the Nation of Innovation
Source:Original    Writer:admin    Released on:2017-07-07

Magic castles in Andersen’s fairytales, beautiful landscapes painted on the cookie tines…Denmark is always seen as a byword for enchanting romance and stories. A dreamy land full of beauty and happiness and a country that tops the World Happiness Index, historic Denmark is glowing with robust innovation vitalities.

In the latest European Innovation Scoreboard released by the European Commission, Denmark ranks the second in terms of its innovation capacity and is above the average level of the European Union in this regard by a large margin. As a leading innovator among the Nordic countries, Denmark ranks the first and third in per capita patents in the fields of bio-technology and medicine respectively, with each million of the population having 33 patents.

The year 2017 marks the 67th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between China and Denmark. In his meeting with Danish Prime Minister Lars Lokke Rasmussen on May 4 in Beijing, Chinese President Xi Jinping noted that 2016 was “a year of progress "for China-Denmark relationship. The two countries have jointly mapped out cooperation in different areas to promote the sound and robust development of the bilateral ties. Efforts have also been made to strengthen the top-level design and make 2017 “a year of harvest” for our relationship. In May 2017, Chinese Premier Li Keqiang held talks at the Great Hall of the People with Prime Minister Rasmussen and the two governments launched the “China Denmark Joint Work Program 2017-2020” to further partnership.

The 10thPujiang Innovation Forum, under the theme "Global Science and Technology Innovation Hubs: Patterns and Prospects”, will be held on 23 and 24 September in Shanghai. Denmark has formally accepted the invitation to be the Country of Honor for this year’s event. This will help forge a partnership focused on peace, growth, reform and culture; enhance communication between China and Denmark and other Nordic countries; and provide an enabling environment for the collaborations between China and the Nordic region in scientific research to yield more innovative results.

Along the Øresund strait, a narrow strip of water that connects the Kattegat with the broad expanse of the Baltic Sea and runs through Copenhagen, the streams of technology and innovation meet and then diverge, forming the lifeblood of this ancient European country and speaking of the innovativeness of this romantic land of fairytales.

What kind of ingenious thoughts will be inspired by the exchanges between Chinese and Danish experts at the 2017 Forum? There is definitely much to be expected.
